What was your journey into regenerative agriculture?

I started my career looking at how we can leverage technology to solve the biggest challenges of our time. The deeper I got in the space, the more disenchanted I became.

Too often technology leads to more disconnection from each other and from nature and I kept thinking to myself “there must be another way.” It was about this time that I discovered the power of food as a vehicle for change. I realized that food is related to everything: our clothes, the buildings we live in, the gas in our cars, our health and well being - it all comes from nature. It’s also something that everyone can understand and connect with.

I pivoted my career to focusing on food and started a podcast that put me in conversation with stakeholders from across the industry. The deeper I got in the space, the more I realized that the basis of our food system is the soil. Solving for soil will enable us to create massive transformation along the value chain. I believe regen ag is the future and we are just at the beginning of a massive movement.

What are you passionate about?

I am super passionate about collaboration. No one organization can deliver the level of food system transformation we need. We have to work together, break down silos, and pioneer new models for doing business.

This is why I am so excited about our mastermind groups, which will bring industry executives and farmers together to co-create solutions for the regenerative transition.

Farmers are some of the bravest entrepreneurs I know. They bear an incredible amount of risk while also performing many different jobs at once. I also know that they are fountains of information, full of ideas for how we can accelerate the regenerative transition.

The issue is that they don’t have an outlet to share their ideas and make them a reality.

On the corporate side, I know from my consultancy work that companies often don’t know who produces their goods. There is a lack of transparency, relationship, and trust.

Corporations are also struggling to figure out who they can transition their supply chains as well as what new products they should bring to the market that will support this transition.

With Top 50 Farmers, we bring industry execs and farmers together to embark on a journey of innovation. I am so excited to see what will emerge from listening, co-creating, and breaking down barriers together.
